Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ New Mexico VA Healthcare Network is seeking a Health Technician to support Ambulatory Care Service. The role includes medical and administrative tasks within the Patient Aligned Care Team, ACS, in Rio Rancho, NM.

Responsibilities cover specimen collection, operation of diagnostic equipment, patient support, and clinic supply management, with a standard Monday–Friday schedule. This is a GS-06 level position with standard VA benefits.

Qualifications

• There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
• Good vision and hearing are required to collect patient data.

Responsibilities

• Collect and label specimens (blood, urine, sputum, stool) for testing.
• Operate equipment and instruments such as ECG machine, CBG monitor, ABI doppler, bladder scanner.
• Clean exam rooms and restock supplies as needed.
• Provide direct patient support, including gathering information and patient education on home medical devices.
• Scrub the schedule for appropriate appointments and enter lab requests and reminders in CPRS GUI.
