Job summary

Horton Emergency Vehicles, part of Terex Corporation, is seeking a Paint Prep Technician to prepare ambulances for paint by sanding, masking, degreasing, and surface cleaning to achieve a high-quality finish. You will follow established standards and safety guidelines to ensure consistent results.

Applicants should have prior automotive paint/prep experience, be able to operate dual-action sanders and spray primers, and show a strong commitment to quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in automotive paint and paint prep preferred.
• Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
• Ability to recognize quality expected and reproduce it.
• Able to run dual action sanders, grinders, and miscellaneous hand tools.
• Ability to spray primers with an air paint system.
• Must have full knowledge of quality requirements to produce acceptable finish paint.
• Able to learn how to mix primers and other paint products.
• Must have general knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for paint by sanding, masking, degreasing, and surface cleaning.
• Occasionally perform body work repairs and buffing to achieve quality finish.
• Seal seams and ensure proper surface preparation.
• Wipe surfaces with degreaser and solvents before painting.
• Grind welds and apply body filler as needed.
• Mask edges and areas not to be painted.
• Fill dents and gouges in metal; sand and apply fillers.
• Use dual action sanders and air tools for surface prep.
• Apply caulking and ensure proper finishing of painted areas.
