Job summary

Life Line Emergency Vehicles in Sumner, IA is seeking an Electrical Engineer – Mobile Upfitting to design and support 12V/24V electrical systems for ambulances. You’ll create wiring schematics, harness layouts, and integrate lighting, communications, and power management while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 2–5+ years in automotive/electrical upfitting or similar environments.
• Experience with 12V/24V DC systems and CAN bus networks.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness layouts for vehicle upfits.
• Select and integrate components such as switches, relays, and power systems.
• Ensure designs comply with OEM specs and industry standards.
• Collaborate with sales, project managers, and production to translate requirements.
• Support prototyping, bench testing, and vehicle-level validation of configurations.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues on shop floor and in the field.
• Create and maintain BOMs, wiring diagrams, and installation docs.
