Job summary

EMT Ambulance is seeking a full-time in-person Billing Specialist to manage medical billing claims from initiation to payment. The role runs Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, and requires verifying insurance eligibility, data entry, and submission to payors.

You will follow up on unpaid claims and obtain necessary authorizations, while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Applicants should have a high school diploma, familiarity with medical billing and payer knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in medical billing preferred but not required.
• Healthcare, medical terminology and third party payer knowledge preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast paced dynamic environment.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
• Strong skills with MS Office and Windows applications.
• Typing of at least 40 WPM.
• Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
• Ability to work in a team fostered environment.

Responsibilities

• Billing claims to the appropriate payor and follow up on unpaid claims.
• Verify insurance eligibility.
• Enter pertinent data elements into billing system and submit claims to proper payor.
• Follow up with payors on unpaid claims and correct issues delaying payment.
• Request authorizations required for claims processing.
• Communicate with patients, payors and facilities with excellent communication skills.
• Complete special assignments and projects with minimal supervision and meet performance standards.
• Ensure compliance with insurance regulations related to ambulance billing.
• Process correspondence with HIPAA guidelines.
• Maintain knowledge of functional area and company policies and procedures.
