Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse. The role focuses on evaluating patients before surgery, educating patients and families, and ensuring safe perioperative care within a collaborative, fast-paced OR environment.

You will prepare patients, participate in site verifications, and support continuous improvement in patient safety and workflow. A background of 2+ years in a surgical setting and Texas RN licensure is required.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing Required
• RN Licensure in state of Texas
• American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS
• Certified Operating Room Nurse ( CNOR) Preferred
• Minimum of 2 years current related experience

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy and preoperative medications
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care
• Assess patient condition, monitor and document changes
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up
