1606 Restaurant & Oyster Bar is currently seeking a qualified AM Saute Cook

Line cooks prepare and cook a variety of foods according to recipe specifications. This role requires special techniques and care to serve food properly and maintain costs. The position reports to the Head Chef and requires teamwork.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and cook a variety of foods as directed by the menu.
  2. Operate standard cooking equipment such as mixers, steamers, toasters, fryers, ovens, stoves, and grills.
  3. Participate in kitchen cleaning and sanitation, including all equipment.
  4. Assist in preparing entrees and special menus.
  5. Secure food supplies from stockroom and refrigerators.
  6. Occasionally fill in for other stations as needed.
  7. Assist in kitchen duties such as placing and receiving orders, rotating, and taking inventory.
  8. Follow recipes based on company standards and instructions.
  9. Handle all food safely, including washing, cutting, and preparing portions.
  10. Maintain sanitation and cleanliness at all times.
  11. Work on preparing orders simultaneously.
  12. Restock workstation and maintain personal and workstation cleanliness.
  13. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 18 years old.
  2. High School diploma or equivalent.
  3. At least one year of recent line cook experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
  4. Ability to stand long periods without sitting and endure climate changes.
  5. Ability to bend and reach continuously.
  6. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  7. Proficiency in using all hand tools, equipment, and machines needed for work.
  8. Ability to measure and cut with precision.
  9. Ensure all products are prepared to company specifications.
  10. Maintain a positive, upbeat, and customer-focused attitude.
