Job summary

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) in Hibbing, MN is seeking an experienced Fine Pitch Solder Technician to repair and modify production electronic components and boards. You will solder PCB assemblies, follow IPC standards, and learn new processes while mentoring trainees as needed.

The role includes on-site work with competitive hourly pay, quarterly gainsharing, and a comprehensive benefits package. A high school diploma and IPC 610 A certification (or the ability to obtain) are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; AA degree preferred.
• 1 year of experience in electronics manufacturing.
• IPC 610 A certified to soldering or ability to obtain certification.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to support circuit board inspections across manufacturing.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and solders all levels of electronic components onto PCB boards per specifications.
• Performs soldering up to fine pitch hand components to IPC standards.
• Lead forms different electronic parts with hand tools and automatic equipment for PCB assembly.
• Interprets PCB assembly drawings, ECNs, and instructions.
• Uses soldering iron, desoldering equipment, and removal tools.
• Understands PCB assembly processes and component installation sequences.
• Reworks, repairs, and modifies boards to meet specs; maintains records.

What You Drive at DTNA

General Purpose of the Position:

Fine pitch solder is responsible for, repairing, and modifying production electronic components and circuit boards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepares and solders all levels of electronic components onto Printed Circuit Boards (PCB's) according to specifications.
• Perform all levels of soldering up to and including Fine pitch hand component soldering to IPC standards.
• Lead forming of different types of electronic parts using hand tools and automatic equipment for PCB (Printed Circuit Board) assembly.
• Advanced understanding of PCB assembly drawings and related documents; ECN's, assembly instructions.
• Utilize electrical and manual tools such as soldering iron, de-soldering equipment, and solder removal tools.
• Has an advanced understanding of PCB assembly processes, component installation sequence of thru hole components.
• Rework, repair, and modify printed circuit boards and/or assemblies to required specifications.
• Maintains department specific records.
• Ability to learn new jobs, tasks, functions and develop training for these functions.
• Perform cross functional audits across manufacturing.
• Mentoring of new employees/contractors to ensure training is successful and questions/concerns are addressed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma/GED; AA Degree Preferred
• Years of Experience: 1 years
• Must be an IPC 610 A Certified to soldering or have the ability to achieve certification.
• Willingness to take charge, and offer opinions and direction.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to support circuit board inspections across manufacturing
• Perform basic computer duties as assigned. Minimal computer skills required.
