21c Museum Hotels is seeking a Bartender to deliver high-quality beverages with timely, friendly service in a bar setting. You will follow service steps, know the wine list and drink recipes, maintain par levels, and work closely with servers and managers.

The role requires strong English communication, enthusiasm for the 21c concept, and strict adherence to sanitation guidelines. You will report to the Beverage Manager and contribute to a positive guest experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follows all steps of service.
• Prepares drinks according to recipe standards.
• Knows drink names, ingredients, methods, glassware and garnishes.
• Knows wines by the glass and key selections on the list.
• Maintains stock at proper par levels and reports changes.
• Completes daily inventory and informs staff of changes.
• Verifies guests are at least 21 years old.
• Provides accurate shift income reports.
• Sells beverages responsibly and ensures smooth service flow.
• Maintains cleanliness and appearance of the bar area.
• Follows sanitation guidelines and completes side work as assigned.

Job Description

Reports To: Beverage Manager, Food & Beverage Director

General Purpose: The Bartender provides timely, accurate and friendly service while preparing the highest quality beverages for each guest.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Follows all steps of service.
• Provides superior service behind the bar by preparing drinks according to recipe standards.
• Knows drink names, ingredients, method of preparation, appropriate glassware, and garnishes.
• Knows all wines by the glass and at least five wines in each category on the wine list in varying price ranges and styles.
• Knows specialty beverages, i.e., single malt scotches, cognacs, specialty drinks, and beer lists.
• Knows all menu descriptions of the bar menu and dining room menu.
• Ensures all stock is up to par levels.
• Completes daily inventory and informs servers/managers/bar back of any changes.
• Verifies all guests are at least 21 years of age.
• Provides prompt, accurate report of all income received during shift.
• Sells beverages responsibly with the customer's best interest in mind.
• Maintains smooth flow of service between bar and server requests.
• Completes all side work as outlined in the manual.
• Reports to work on time and ready to work scheduled shifts.
• Maintains a positive, friendly attitude with co-workers and guests.
• Maintains a clean, orderly appearance in the restaurant service area.
• Assists with/executes any tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
• Follows all proper sanitation guidelines.

• Exhibits strong beverage knowledge.
• Must pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
• Requires lifting of up to 50 lbs.
