Job summary

JBS Foods is seeking an Alvey Technician on 3rd shift in Grand Island, NE to maintain and improve conveyor systems and plant equipment. You will diagnose faults, repair sensors, controls, print/label devices, and ensure safe, efficient operation of automation throughout the plant.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, strong hands-on mechanical skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. College or technical training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair Alvey conveyor and automation systems.
• Diagnose and fix printers and labelers.
• Service industrial scales per state/federal regulations.
• Install and troubleshoot metal detection systems.
• Program and maintain HMI software (Wonderware, RSView).
• Install and diagnose VFDs and servo drives.
• Work with AC and DC electrical systems.
• Perform electronics troubleshooting at component level.
• Support barcode printing and scanning systems.
• Complete projects and respond to production needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

ALVEY TECHNICIAN – 3RD SHIFT

General Description

The Alvey Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of Alvey conveyor systems and plant‑wide electronic equipment. This role supports production by ensuring automation equipment runs reliably, safely, and efficiently. The technician must be a motivated self‑starter capable of learning quickly, especially regarding state and federal scale codes, and applying creative engineering solutions that improve production and reduce cost.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Alvey conveyor and automation systems, including sensors, controls, and communication devices.
• Diagnose and repair printers and labelers (direct and thermal transfer).
• Diagnose and repair industrial scales in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Install and troubleshoot metal detection systems.
• Program and maintain HMI software (Wonderware, RSView).
• Install and diagnose variable‑frequency drives (VFDs) and servo drives.
• Work with AC and DC electrical systems for equipment repair and installation.
• Perform component‑level electronics troubleshooting (preferred).
• Support barcode printing and scanning systems.
• Complete assigned projects and respond to production support needs.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
