Job summary

James Madison University is seeking a Student Writing Assistant for the Office of Alumni Relations. The role supports story development, interviewing alumni, and content creation/editing within the Leeolou Alumni Center. It requires 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with possible after-hours work.

The successful candidate will be a current JMU student enrolled in at least 6 credits, adept at AP style, storytelling, and proficient in Microsoft Office, upholding the JMUAA brand.

Responsibilities

• Identify key alumni for interviewing and develop content across platforms
• Interview alumni award recipients and write bios for promotion
• Develop stories for Madison Magazine and online publications
• Promote alumni successes through storytelling
• Work with supervisor to create a story timeline meeting deadlines
• Maintain voice and brand integrity of the JMUAA
• Write various other writing assignments as needed
• Get trained in Cascade and maintain alumni stories in Cascade
