Job summary

Capital City Public Charter School in Washington, DC is seeking an Alumni Associate for the 2026-2027 school year. This 12-month exempt role focuses on alumni services, college counseling, and admissions testing, with duties spanning data maintenance, communication networks, FAFSA/DC-TAG compliance, and student advising.

You will collaborate with College Counseling & Alumni Affairs, assist with Naviance setup, and support summer opportunities, internships, and transcripts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Experience in secondary education or college education preferred.
  • Experience with District of Columbia financial aid (DC TAG) preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations or in an urban setting preferred.
  • Criminal background check required for all hires.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain alumni data and database of Capital City Public Charter School alumni.
  • Create an alumni communication network to support and connect with alumni through social, career/networking, educational, volunteer, and events.
  • Communicate regularly with alumni via social media, phone calls, emails or other methods.
  • Ensure all college students complete FAFSA and DC-TAG re-enrollment annually.
  • Provide academic advising to college students as needed.
  • Provide guidance and support for students attending community colleges or two-year colleges with transfer applications.
  • Provide emergency/crisis intervention support for alumni, as needed.
  • Create and maintain a database of resources to support college students (scholarships, internships, employment opportunities).
  • Support college students in registering for summer courses locally.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for alumni seeking assistance with transcripts and other services.
  • Support surveying of alumni and use data to support program decisions.
  • Support the manager of College Counseling & Alumni Affairs in developing college planning curriculum and services.
  • Assist students and advisors in Naviance accounts and college applications.
  • Help students and families in the college application process.
  • Support teachers and advisors with college readiness and planning curriculum via workshops and visits.

The responsibilities of the Alumni Associate include:

Alumni Services

  • Support the maintenance of alumni data and database of Capital City Public Charter School alumni.
  • Creating an alumni communication network to support and connect with alumni through social, career/networking, educational, volunteer, and events.

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for alumni seeking assistance with transcripts and other services.
  • Support the surveying of alumni and utilizing data to support programmatic decisions.

College Counseling

  • Supporting the manager of College Counseling & Alumni Affairs in the development of college planning curriculum, programs and services.
  • Assisting students and advisors in setting up and accessing Naviance accounts and ensuring effective use.
  • Assisting students and families in the college application process.
  • Supporting teachers and advisors with college readiness, and college planning curriculum through workshops, classroom/advisory visits and other activities.
  • Collecting and disseminating information to parents and students and providing support in the application process for summer opportunities, internships, community service opportunities and part-time employment.

Assessments/Admissions Testing

  • Maintaining and disseminating information about standardized college admissions tests to students and families.
  • Providing assistance to students registering for college admissions tests.
  • Assisting the College Counseling & Alumni Affairs Manager with the school-wide PSAT administration.
  • Assisting the Assistant Principal of Instruction with AP test administration.

Other Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintaining detailed records of communications with alumni and providing regular reports to the College Counseling & Alumni Affairs Manager and Partnerships.
  • Maintaining awareness of issues and trends in college admissions and higher education.
  • Supporting the College Counseling & Alumni Affairs Manager and Partnerships with major programs and events including, College Awareness Month and Graduation.
  • Supporting school leadership in the enforcement of school rules and policies, as well as, other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required. Experience working in secondary education or college education preferred. Experience with District of Columbia financial aid preferred (i.e. DC TAG). Experience working with diverse student populations or in an urban setting is preferred.

In addition to the above requirements, staff members must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check.
