Whitewater - Summerset is hiring an Aluminum Welder Fabricator to join our marine fabrication team in Whitewater, WI. You will weld and fabricate aluminum components for barges and piers, following drawings and using MIG/TIG methods in a rugged outdoor shop and field setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years welding experience, aluminum preferred.
  • Experience with MIG and/or TIG welding on aluminum.
  • Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform aluminum welding and fabrication on barges and piers.

Servicing hundreds of clients from Madison to Milwaukee, Summerset Marine provides the highest level of expertise to design, install and support any pier and boat lift system, always on call for any service needs.

About the role

The Aluminum Welder Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, welding, repairing, and modifying barges and piers to exact drawing specifications while ensuring quality and efficiency in all fabrication tasks. This position is heavily focused on aluminum welding and fabrication and requires the ability to produce strong, clean, high-quality welds in a marine manufacturing environment.

What you'll do

  • Perform aluminum welding and fabrication on barges, marine equipment, and structural components, ensuring strength and durability.
  • Utilize proper tools, materials, and MIG/TIG welding techniques for aluminum and steel applications.
  • Cut and prepare raw materials to specified dimensions.
  • Repair and reinforce barge and pier components, including decking and structural supports.
  • Read and follow blueprints and production drawings accurately.
  • Work in both shop and field environments, including outdoor marine settings.
  • Follow production schedules and complete tasks on time.
  • Track hours and maintain quality standards by inspecting completed work.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Report hazards or equipment issues promptly.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of welding experience, with a strong preference for aluminum welding.
  • Experience with MIG and/or TIG welding (aluminum preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience with marine equipment, barges, or structural fabrication is a plus.
  • Proficient with power tools and fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding and outdoor environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or on a team.

Working Conditions and Physical Efforts

  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying up to 100 pounds occasionally in addition to using material handling equipment.
  • May be required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities require close vision assessments. Moderately loud noise levels in the plant environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Steel-toe boots are required.
