Job summary

Aebi Schmidt - USA is seeking a Welder to join our production team in Waterville, ME. The role involves MIG/TIG welding, fabricating components from raw stock, and following detailed drawings and weld specifications.

Candidates should pass AWS D1.x tests, read blueprints, and be willing to rotate across weld areas, perform lean/5S activities, and work overtime as needed. A strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to pass AWS welding cert tests (D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6, D9.1).
• Able to read blueprints and weld symbols.
• Willing to rotate across weld areas and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Weld using MIG or TIG to join steel, stainless, and aluminum as required.
• Fabricate components from raw stock per drawings.
• Read operator instructions, blueprints, and welding specifications.
• Lead lean events and support 5S in the work area.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and communicate with cross-functional teams.

Job description

he Welder position is responsible for welding various materials associated with the company’s product lines including, but not limited to, truck bodies and specialty vehicles· Use modification and welding (minimum AWS 3G/4G level) skills to rework cab and other components· Perform welding (AWS 3G/4G) according to blueprints· Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete welding in the assigned area· Fabricate components from raw stock· Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etc.· Understand, and be able to articulate, the production flow of an assigned product line or area· Self-check work and inspect prior processes· Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required· Meet production goals· Maintain a clean and safe work area· Initiate process improvements· Support 5S in work area· Lead/perform lean events· Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues· Solve complex problems with minimal assistanceHS Diploma or GED required· AWS Certification preferred· Excellent attendance· Positive attitude· Strong and consistent attention to detail· Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task· Team oriented· Basic computer skills are required· Must be able to pass the required welding certification test in the following AWS material sections: D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6, and D9.1.· Previous experience and/or certifications preferred· Must understand AWS welding symbols· Must be able to set up, adjust, and maintain welding machines· Must be able to Mig or Tig weld steel, stainless, and aluminum as neededWilling to:· Learn and rotate within various weld areas· Wear PPE respirators for an extended amount of time· Improve self/area/company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)· Develop a working knowledge of the company’s systems (example: AS/400)Able to:· Read and comprehend blueprints including weld specifications· Work overtime on short noticeYou should be proficient in:Troubleshooting SkillsTape Measure ReadingWelding Setups for ProductionVehicle & Fleet WeldingBlueprint ReadingMachines & technologies you'll use:MIG WelderTIG Welder
