Job summary

HES Facilities is seeking a part-time Custodian for Alton, IL. The role involves performing custodial duties for the Alton School District, with on-site responsibilities and varied shifts, including summer projects and winter ice removal.

The position requires prior custodial experience, independent work ability, and adherence to safety procedures around chemicals. You will contribute to a clean, safe environment and assist with general maintenance tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous custodial experience required.

• Able to follow basic safety procedures around hazardous chemicals.
• Able to train new hires.
• Maintains friendly, efficient guest service demeanor towards guests, clients and co-workers.
• Adaptable to client needs.
• This role may have physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing; PPE may be required.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to established procedures to provide a safe working environment including OSHA, state/local, federal, and HES regulations.
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment to protect the safety and health of others.
• Accurately cleans and maintains housekeeping equipment.
• Cleans assigned areas to HES and client standards and requirements.
• Follows procedures for storage and disposal of trash and transports it to designated areas.
• Reports maintenance concerns via work order requests to appropriate personnel.
• Secures the facility, ensuring building is locked/unlocked as required.
• Ensures security of company assets.
• Summer Project Work; Winter – Ice & Snow Removal.

Job Skills / Requirements

The Custodian cleans and maintains assigned area(s) to meet customer and client satisfaction and may be responsible for oversight or delegation of responsibilities within the cleaning services operation. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by HES location based on client requirements and business needs.

This will be an as needed shift, so the shift times will vary.
