Alternative Delivery Integration Discipline Manager (AD-IDM) and Geotechnical Specialist

We are currently seeking an Alternative Delivery Integration Discipline Manager (AD-IDM) and Geotechnical Specialist to lead design development, preconstruction coordination, and construction services while collaborating with construction, estimating, and other project teams. You will manage project design, resources, and budgets, ensuring successful delivery of projects at various stages. This role involves providing technical expertise in geotechnical engineering for alternative delivery projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead geotechnical design efforts, providing technical expertise and optimizing solutions for complex geotechnical challenges.
  • Oversee design development, including resource planning, budgeting, and coordination with internal and external engineers, consultants, and clients.
  • Review and manage design submittals for compliance with contract requirements and technical standards.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate technical risks and ensure project objectives are met.
  • Monitor design progress, manage schedules and budgets, and produce periodic reports.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including stakeholders, developers, and partners, to achieve project goals.
  • Act as the primary contact for resolving engineering issues, recommending solutions, and ensuring timely project completion.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in alternative delivery projects with a geotechnical engineering background, including progressively increasing responsibility and management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, with the ability to obtain licensure in other states.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, FHWA, and DOT regulations.
  • Proficiency in CAD and other engineering software.
  • Experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects ($500M+), with strong problem-solving and optimization skills.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients, vendors, and construction partners.
  • Willingness to travel as required for projects.
  • Experience working with state DOTs is highly preferred.
  • Alternative delivery experience (e.g., DB, CMGC, P3) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of construction methods and scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, P-6).
  • On-site and field experience on civil projects.
Other Conditions
  • This permanent staff role is based in Pittsburgh PA (relocation may be provided), other company offices, or remote depending on the candidate.

Working Conditions, Mental And Physical Demands
  • Typically, an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
  • Work assignments are diversified. Interpret, comprehend, and apply complex material, data, and instruction – prepare, provide, and convey diversified information.
  • Minimal physical effort required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs. (e.g., papers, books, files and small parts). Moderate dexterity – regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination).
  • Work has periodic stress due to frequent goals and deadlines, and responsibility associated with the role.
