Job summary

Hemenway & Barnes LLP, a Boston-based law firm specializing in asset management, seeks an Alternative Asset Administrator to support portfolio operations and protect client confidentiality.

Under the Senior Manager of Portfolio Operations, you will maintain market values for hedge funds and private equity, process capital calls and subscriptions, and coordinate with LPs, GPs, custodians, and service providers. This is a team-driven role with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

Job description

The Alternative Asset Administrator, under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Portfolio Operations, helps to oversee the administration of the alternative assets held by the firm. They will also help administer the investment operations systems and related report production. This is a team-oriented role with opportunities for growth over time. Must maintain high levels of client confidentiality and service standards.

Job Summary:

• Maintain current market values for the department’s alternative investments using Canoe Analytics and the SEI SWP trust system.
• Serve as the firm’s primary contact with LPs, GPs, hedge funds, their service providers, and custodian banks.
• Maintain key-person contact lists and online portal access for all funds.
• Administer incoming fund documents (capital account statements, capital-call notices, year-end K-1s, etc.) and file them from Canoe Analytics into NetDocs.
• Process and reconcile capital calls and distributions.
• Process and administer new subscription documents (Anduin or similar a plus), including KYC/AML verification.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of financial, accounting or mathematical principals at a level normally acquired through Internships and work experience.
• Knowledge of alternative assets such as hedge funds and private equity and how they operate is preferred.
• One to three years of experience working in operations for a custodian bank or brokerage firm.
• Experience with SEI, SWP, Canoe, and MOXY a plus.
• Knowledge of performance returns and their relation to the equity and fixed income markets a plus.
• Ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in personal and fiduciary matters.
• Ability to organize and prioritize and multiple tasks simultaneously.

The base salary range provided below reflects our good faith estimate of the expected starting compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final compensation offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including a candidate’s experience, qualifications, education, external market data, and internal equity considerations. In addition to base salary, employees receive other variable compensation based on their role and individual performance. $60,000 - $75,000
