Job summary

Macy's Inc. in the United States is seeking a Tailor/Seamstress to sew garments, repair and alter to customer taste, and operate sewing equipment in-store.

Responsibilities include performing alterations (sleeves, backs, waists), minor repairs, providing exceptional customer service, writing alteration tickets, pressing, and maintaining department records. A High School Diploma is required, with a flexible schedule including weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Resourceful, adaptable and able to work under changing priorities.
• Flexible retail schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Prior experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic alterations on garments (sleeves, backs, sides, collars and bodices, etc.).
• Do minor repairs to garments (buttons, seams, hems).
• Provide an exceptional customer experience by making the customer a priority.
• Advise customers on fit and care of garments.
• Write alterations tickets with garment details.
• Press and steam garments before returning to customer.
• Maintain knowledge of styles, fits, and fabrics to better serve customers.
• Maintain records for alterations department.
• Inform CSX manager of supply needs.
• Carry out more complex fittings as needed.
• Follow shortage programs and procedures.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
