Job summary

  • Previous alpine ski coaching and/or competitive skiing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of alpine ski racing techniques, training methods, and safety procedures.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

  • Plan and conduct effective practices and training sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with league, state association, mountain, and school safety guidelines.
  • Monitor weather and slope conditions and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Coordinate practice schedules, race logistics, transportation, equipment management, and communication with athletes and families.
  • Work collaboratively with mountain personnel, race officials, and league representatives.
  • Must be available weeknights for practices and races.

Position Title: Alpine Ski Coach

Located in Portland, Maine, Cheverus High School is a Private Catholic College Preparatory School sponsored by the Society of Jesus. Job Description

The Alpine Ski Coach is responsible for leading and developing the school’s alpine ski program in a manner that supports the mission and values of the school. The coach will foster a positive, competitive, and educational environment that promotes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and personal growth while ensuring the safety and well‑being of all student‑athletes.

Additional Requirements
  • Completion and approval of a background check conducted with the State Bureau of Identification and Department of Human Services; the background check will be completed upon employment.
  • Completion and approved Criminal History Background Check (CHRC) with the Department of Education; cost $70.
  • Sexual Harassment Training Certification (provided by Cheverus).
  • Virtus Protecting God’s Children Training and ongoing monthly bulletins completed.
