Job summary

Precision Drilling is seeking an Alpha SME to lead NOVOS system operations onsite in Houston, TX. The role focuses on daily NOVOS performance, rig configuration review, and cross-field optimization with Power BI data to boost efficiency.

The candidate should have 2+ years as a Driller, 5+ years on land rigs, and at least 1 year running NOVOS. Amphion competency and NOVOS knowledge are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Driller.
• At least 5 years of experience on land-based drilling rigs.
• At least 1 year experience running NOVOS on a drilling rig.
• Completion of Amphion Competency Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily NOVOS operations, including first-line training and troubleshooting.
• Review rig configurations and Power BI data to identify performance gaps and suggest improvements.
• Compare rig performance across plays and optimize configurations for underperforming units.
• Log and analyze troubleshooting requests to identify recurring issues and implement solutions.
• Develop system enhancements to expand NOVOS applications and drive value.
• Collaborate with team leads and mentor junior staff.

The Alpha SME is responsible for ensuring maximum value creation for United States Drilling Operations and our customers from the automation system – NOVOS, Apps, etc.

DAY IN THE LIFE:

• Oversee daily NOVOS operations, including first-line training, troubleshooting, and rig communication to optimize system performance.
• Review rig configurations, well programs, and Power BI data to identify performance gaps and recommend improvements.
• Compare rig performance within similar plays and suggest optimized configurations for underperforming units.
• Log and analyze troubleshooting requests and diagnostic reports to identify recurring issues and implement solutions.
• Develop and propose system enhancements to expand NOVOS application and drive greater value.
• Collaborate with team leads, maintain status updates, and demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

• Completion of SME Competency Assessment
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Driller and at least 5 years of experience on land-based drilling rigs. At least 1 year experience running NOVOS on a drilling rig
• Strong working knowledge of drilling rig components and drilling rig activities
• Drilling experience in multiple basins preferred
• Full understanding of Amphion drilling system
• Completion of Amphion Competency Assessment
• Full understanding of NOVOS components
