A healthcare provider is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for night shifts in Potsdam, New York. The role requires a minimum of 1 year experience, certifications in ACLS, BLS, CRT, and NRP, and a New York state license. Responsibilities include providing care primarily to adult patients and performing critical respiratory procedures. This position offers guaranteed hours and the opportunity to work within a fully functional 24/7 respiratory therapy department.
Shift: Night 3×12-Hour (19:00 – 07:00)
Description: REQUIRED SKILLS / CERTS / EXP: Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year. Traveler Experience: First time travelers accepted. Locals accepted (Y/N): No, must be >50 miles.
Skills: Adult Critical Care, Emergency Department, Extubation, Nasal airway placement, Nasal airway suctioning, Oral airway placement, Oral/nasal Suctioning, Pulmonary Hygiene, Sputum specimen collection, Tracheostomy care and suctioning, Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Inhaled steroids, Isuprel, Lidocaine, Perforomist, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Terbutaline Sulfate, Tobramycin, Xopenex.
Certs: ACLS, BLS, CRT, NRP, NY state license MUST be in hand prior to submitting.
Patient Diagnoses: May be asked to perform the occasional EKG after hours in support of the Cardiology Dept. May be asked to provide care to COVID 19 populations. Ability to work alone and adapt to a changing care climate when needed.
Special Procedures/Unit Details: Fully functional 24/7 in-house Respiratory therapy department with care areas and responsibilities encompassing 6 bed ICU, ER, M/S, PEDS and low volume newborn stabilization.
Working alone or in conjunction with a second therapist, the CPH RT will be charged with ensuring proficiency and compassion at the bedside of primarily the adult population, but should be comfortable with all ages as they may be responsible for newborn (Stabilization prior to transport) and pediatric care.
Routine medication delivery through invasive and noninvasive ventilator management as assigned with a myriad of patient diagnosis being seen.
