Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support allergy care teams in Allentown. You will assist with immunotherapy, schedule testing and injections, and manage front desk duties within a physician practice setting.

The role requires a specialized Medical Assistant diploma, 3 years of relevant experience, and proficiency with EMR, word processing, and Excel. BLS certification is required upon hire. Day shifts, onsite at 1605 N Cedar Crest Blvd.

Qualifications

  • Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant.
  • 3 years recent experience in a physician office practice setting.
  • Ability to adapt to constant change within a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent computer skills including EMR, word processing, and Excel.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Documents progress of immunotherapy patients and conveys concerns to physicians.
  • Identifies and evaluates each patient and administers allergy injections/vial challenge.
  • Answers allergy department related calls and retrieves messages from voicemail.
  • Counsels allergy patients with arm reactions or increased symptoms; documents and advises providers.
  • Schedules and conducts allergy testing ordered by physicians and schedules ongoing immunotherapy.
  • Reviews allergy records for yearly evaluation with a physician and schedules allergy injection/new patient appointments; records and prepares allergy serum reports.
  • Creates allergy endpoint sheets, compiles allergy serum list, completes paperwork for serum mailings, and completes superbills for serum mailings.
  • Formulates and mixes vials for patients prior to scheduled appointment.
  • Mixes vials for current allergy patients and gives scheduled injections.
  • Conducts percutaneous and intradermal allergy testing and scans results into the EMR.

Job description

Summary

Provides critical support to physicians, performs skin tests, and administers allergy shots. Functions as a member of the practice clinical care delivery team to provide selected clinical care to patients under the direction of an LPN, RN, or medical provider. Performs clerical/administrative duties associated with medical practice front desk operations.

Job Duties

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
