Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Medical Director for the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Program in the Vanderbilt Lung Institute. This non-tenure earning position is on the Clinician Educator track. The ideal candidate will be board certified in Allergy and Immunology with an interest in an academic career focused on clinical care leadership and administration. This role offers the opportunity to blend clinical expertise with leadership in clinical care innovation and administration, education, and research. A track record of excellence in clinical care innovation and leadership is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Leadership: Partner with divisional and Vanderbilt Lung Institute leadership to align and expand clinical operations within Allergy/Immunology across Vanderbilt Health. Develop, implement, and manage growing clinical programs and partner with nationally recognized research teams related to asthma, allergy, and immunology.
  • Clinical Practice: Provide high-quality care in VUMC’s Allergy and Immunology Clinics. As a clinical leader, model best practices in patient care, protocols, and teamwork while contributing to the training of residents and medical students.
  • Administrative Duties: Lead and direct clinical operations, ensuring alignment with best practices in clinical care leadership and administration. Mentor clinical staff in their professional development.
  • Research and Scholarship: Support clinical research in allergy, asthma, and immunology within the Vanderbilt Lung Institute, partner with funded investigators, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at national and international conferences. Encourage and support collaborative research efforts.
  • Educational Outreach: Design and implement educational programs and resources aimed at improving care in allergy and immunology. Participate in public speaking engagements, webinars, and other forums to advocate for clinical excellence and education.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified (BC) in Allergy and Immunology.
  • Interest in an academic career focused on clinical care leadership and administration.
  • Proven track record of excellence in clinical care innovation and leadership.
  • Strong clinical care expertise, excellent mentorship and communication skills, and proficiency in educational outreach and academic publishing. The ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and cultures.
  • Commitment to advancing clinical care, education, and research in allergy and immunology.

Allergy and Immunology Clinics Overview: The Allergy and Immunology Clinics at VUMC are part of the Vanderbilt Lung Institute and provide specialized care to patients with asthma, allergies, and immunologic disorders. The clinics are a key training site for medical students, residents and 6 clinical fellows per year, with a strong focus on clinical excellence and education. The division includes programs focused on clinical practice, research, and education related to asthma, allergy and immunology.
