Job summary

Southern Tire Mart is seeking an experienced diesel mechanic to diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, and electrical systems. You will perform PM inspections, fleet inspections, and roadside service when required.

You will operate diagnostic tools, handle tire services, maintain TPMS, and keep detailed records while adhering to safety guidelines and DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (trade school certification a plus).
• Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or heavy truck mechanic preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.
• Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids).
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to work in varying conditions (weather, noise, physical demands).
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Overtime may be required.

• Respond to roadside service calls using a company service truck when required.
• Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Job description

Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including:

Brakes

HVAC systems

Drivetrains

Electrical systems

Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections

Conduct fleet inspections and perform scheduled maintenance.

Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately.

Perform tire-related services as needed (mounting, balancing, repairing).

Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).

Maintain detailed records of work performed.

Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and DOT regulations.

Respond to roadside service calls using a company service truck (F-350), when required.

Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.

Complete other duties as assigned.
