Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks an inaugural Associate Laboratory Director for Innovation, Science and Security (ISS) to provide strategic and operational leadership for a diverse portfolio of fundamental and applied science and national security programs. The ALD will shape the Lab’s scientific direction and manage critical partnerships.

The role oversees the ISS Directorate, user facilities, and relationships with sponsors, while advancing opportunities in quantum networking, AI for grid

Qualifikationen

• Requires PhD in a relevant science or technology field with 15+ years of related experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute scientific strategy with stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and operational management skills across complex programs.

Aufgaben

• Lead and grow the ISS Directorate and manage user facilities.
• Oversee relationships with DOE program sponsors and other agencies.
• Drive strategic initiatives and develop new programs in quantum networking, AI, isotope R&D, fusion energy, national security.
• Develop partnerships with other labs, academia, and private sector.
• Manage programmatic funds and discretionary investments.
• Ensure safety culture and compliance with policies.
• Represent ISS on lab committees and drive cross-cutting opportunities.
