Job summary

Ambercare Homecare in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to join our growing team. You will provide direct physical therapy under supervision, assist with therapeutic exercises, and help patients regain function in the home care setting.

Responsibilities include documenting treatments, assisting with patient progress notes, and communicating changes in patient conditions to the supervising physical therapist. We offer strong benefits and a supportive workplace.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program with an Associate's degree.
• Current licensure as a PTA in the state of practice.
• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience preferred.
• CPR certification current and maintained.
• Ability to make home visits and provide nursing care in the home environment.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct physical therapy according to directions of a qualified physical therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care.
• Treats patient to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
• Directs and aids patients in exercises, gait and functional training, transfer activities and prosthetic training.
• Administers non-complex therapeutic modalities to clients with relatively stable conditions.
• Instructs, motivates and assists clients in learning and improving functional activities.
• Observes progress and reports findings to the physical therapist.
• Documents treatments in clinical notes and progress reports.
• Reports changes in condition to supervising PT and Director of Nursing/Director of Therapy.
• Instructs patients in care and use of mobility devices.

Education

Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with an Associate's degree in science or applied science

Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of practice

At least one (1) years' experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant

Complies and maintains current CPR certification

Ability to make home visits and provide nursing care in the home environment

Must have reliable transportation, current driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance
