Job summary

State of Alaska seeks a Forest Engineer to plan, design, and construct forestry infrastructure across Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, or Ketchikan, coordinating with partner agencies to balance operations with soil and water protections.

The role includes supervising Heavy Equipment programs, and serving as a liaison for large facility projects while focusing on safe, sustainable forest transportation infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or land surveying; ABET-accredited coursework may substitute for experience.
• Professional registration as PE or Architect may substitute for some experience (Engineer/Architect 1/2).
• Experience in engineering, land surveying or architecture; state of Alaska experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and construct forestry infrastructure including roads, bridges, culverts, and material sites.
• Coordinate and manage projects balancing operational needs with soil and water protection.
• Supervise Heavy Equipment program for state forest roads and fire suppression support.
• Collaborate with partner agencies on facilities design and construction projects for large state initiatives.
• Develop forest transportation infrastructure that protects fish streams and public safety.
