Job summary

Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Yakutat Maintenance Station is seeking Equipment Operator Journeys 1, 2, and Lead/Journey 3 to perform airport and highway maintenance. The roles require operating light to some heavy equipment at a rural Part 139 certificated airport, with training opportunities and strict compliance with FHWA/FAA/TSA regulations.

Positions are open to Alaska residents in Yakutat.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of equipment functions and safe operation.
  • Ability to operate and set up core and duty station equipment.
  • Reading regulations and following safety procedures.
  • Teamwork and effective communication under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain state highways, airports, seaplane floats, bridges, and docks to keep infrastructure safe.
  • Operate light and some heavy equipment; training as needed for heavier gear.
  • Follow FHWA/FAA/TSA/state rules for maintenance of highways and airports.
