Job summary

University of Washington seeks a Temporary Biological Laboratory Technician to support lab, field, and at-sea research focused on Alaskan crab species. The role involves seawater experiments, data analysis, and living at-sea survey participation with Kodiak-based teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Oceanography, Natural Sciences, Mathematics or a related field with at least one year of lab/field research experience.
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic team environment with good communication.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to field and lab settings.
  • Experience with data collection, QA/QC, and basic laboratory procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support setup and execution of seawater lab experiments and data collection.
  • Perform animal husbandry tasks, tank cleaning, feeding, and water quality monitoring.
  • Participate in field trawl surveys and at-sea data collection with small boats.
