Job summary

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fish, is seeking a Fishery Biologist 1 in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. You will support the Crab Observer Program by briefing and debriefing observers and handling data tasks.

Role emphasizes biological sampling, regulatory knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with observers and staff in a dynamic Alaskan fishery environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, or a related field, as required.
• Substitution: degree plus credits to meet minimum qualifications.
• Attention to safety; firearms, First Aid/CPR certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Brief and debrief fishery observers.
• Review observer data for accuracy and provide guidance for improvement.
• Enter and edit observer data in database systems.
• Assist in training new observers and crab observer training class certification.
