Best Defense Fire Protection & Security in Waunakee, WI is seeking an Alarm Designer – Entry level to join our design and sales team. You’ll use CAD (AutoCAD/Revit) to draft code-compliant fire alarm and sprinkler layouts for permits and quotes, working closely with the design team.

The role emphasizes bid organization, project identification from drawing sites, and basic bid creation using templates, with growth in estimating and customer collaboration.

Qualifications

• CAD or Revit experience required.
• Basic Excel skills and general computer knowledge.
• Strong organizational skills with bid tracking in CRM.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Organize bid requests and deadlines in CRM.
• Identify projects from bid drawing sites needing our products.
• Create and forward bids using templates.
• Basic design of fire alarm layouts for bids with design department support.
• Create fire alarm estimates in estimating software.
• Review layouts and estimates with management.
• Forward estimates to contractors and follow up with them.
• Assist design department with plotting plans and submittals, mailing, and related admin tasks.

Alarm Designer – Entry level

Job Summary:

We’re seeking a technical minded outgoing career focused make it happen kind of person with a sales minded personality but technical skills. Experience in CAD or Revit is required.

Position will utilize basic CAD skills to assist our design team in creating code compliant fire alarm and sprinkler designs for permit submittals as well as sales.

Qualified applicants will have the following skills, experiences, or traits:

• Strong computer skills. In addition to CAD or Revit experience you’ll need basic experience in Excel and computers in general.
• Strong organizational skills. This position will organize our bids in our CRM software by due date and by contractor.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Qualified candidate will be directly communicating with prospective electrical and general contractors to determine if they’re seeking bids for projects

Job duties include:

• Organizing bid requests and deadlines in CRM software
• Identify projects through bid drawing sites that will need our products.
• Creation and forwarding of basic bids using templates
• Basic design of fire alarm system layouts for bids with direct assistance from design department
• Creation of fire alarm estimates in estimating software
• Review of layouts and estimates with management
• Forwarding of estimates to contractors
• Sales follow up with contractors on estimates
• Assist design department in basic administrative tasks such as plotting plans and submittals, creating close-out packets, mailing, shipping, calling municipalities for water supply information.

Benefits Include:

• Salary of $40,000 - $65,000 per year based on experience and potential. Highly experienced candidates will be considered at a higher salary based on experience, potential, and certifications.
