Job summary

A fire safety solutions company is hiring an Alarm & Detection Technician in Corpus Christi, Texas. The role involves inspecting, installing, and repairing fire alarm equipment while providing reliable customer support. Candidates must understand NFPA codes and have fire alarm service experience. Qualifications

  • Knowledge of NFPA codes is required.
  • NICET I or II Certification a plus.
  • Manufacturers certifications are preferred.
  • Ability to understand expenses and scheduling.
  • OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
  • Field installation experience is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of NFPA 72, Factory Mutual and applicable codes is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference check.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections, installations, and repairs of fire alarm equipment.
  • Test all equipment after installation or repairs.
  • Troubleshoot fire alarm systems including Ground-Faults and Shorts.
  • Program dialers for monitoring systems.
  • Complete final reports and interact with clients.
  • Complete final reports, deficiency reports and possible bids via a computer.
  • Interact with clients, field personnel and fire marshals.
  • Coordination with other disciplines, engineers, general contractors and end users.
  • Daily communications with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspection or project delays, requirements and general status of jobs.
  • Responsible for training apprentices on Company procedures, systems inspection and installation techniques.
  • All work is performed to NFPA and Company standards with quality inspection and installation techniques practiced.

Alarm & Detection Technician

The function of this position is to provide reliable, high quality customer support through on-site inspecting, installing, repairing and/or replacing fire alarm equipment as well as conducting preventive maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturer’s equipment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Tests all equipment after installation or repairs made to ensure performance of system
  • Use company software to input testing results and read blueprints
  • Analysis and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems including Ground-Faults, Shorts, Wire Integrity, Termination, Panel, Fuses, Battery Testing and much more
  • Program dialers for monitoring. Phone line traditional and cell phone monitoring skills needed
  • Complete basic repairs and installations including moves, adds, relocates for all types of systems and devices
  • Complete final reports, deficiency reports and possible bids via a computer.
  • Interact with clients, field personnel and fire marshals
  • Coordination with other disciplines, engineers, general contractors and end users
  • Daily communications with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspection or project delays, requirements and general status of jobs
  • Responsible for training apprentices on Company procedures, systems inspection and installation techniques
  • All work is performed to NFPA and Company standards with quality inspection and installation techniques practiced
Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes is required

  • High School Diploma/ GED required
  • Fire Alarm Service Experience required
  • Manufacturers certifications are preferred but not required (EST, Gamewell, FCI, Notifier, Honeywell, Simplex, Siemens)
  • Field installation experience is a plus
  • Solid knowledge of NFPA 72, Factory Mutual and applicable codes is preferred
  • Possess an understanding of expenses and scheduling
  • OSHA 30 is a plus
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference check
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Regular bending, reaching, climbing and walking
