Job summary

Ring is seeking an Embedded Software Development Engineer (SDE) to define, build, and support system design, architecture, and software for Ring IoT products. You will work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design features, and contribute to the full software and systems life cycle.

The role emphasizes hands-on embedded software in C/C++, design reviews, and delivering interoperability features, health monitoring, and self-healing automation in a fast-paced Ring environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• 2+ years of experience with networking concepts, WiFi, VLAN, LTE, APN, AT modem commands, interfaces, routers, network packets, Unix sockets API.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience.

Responsibilities

• Dive deep and work to solve critical design issues involving algorithm, develop hardware/firmware interfaces, IoT interfaces, etc.
• Participate in design reviews for complex embedded systems, simulations, algorithms and software development owned by your team and partner teams.
• Influence within your team and partner teams to help drive and develop the technical implementation for overall system designs.
• Identify and implement process improvements which improve your team’s agility.
• Define and refine system requirements, participate in the development and delivery of interoperability-related features such as system health monitoring, diagnostics, repair, and other self-healing automation.
• Develop embedded software in C/C++.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for defining, building and supporting the system design, architecture, and software for Ring IoT products. As a member of our team, you will be interacting closely with the business and cross-functional engineering teams across different organizations to gather engineering requirements, design and implement new features. You will contribute to all aspects of an agile software & systems development life cycle including design, architecture, development, documentation, testing and operations. You are the engineer that works with your team on solving the hard problems; you are technical, you attack every problem with enthusiasm.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
