Overview

Summary

Job Summary: Under close supervision, the Radiologic Technologist (Multi-Modality) performs a variety of duties in the Department of Radiology/ Imaging Services of Alameda Health System related to general Radiography/Fluoroscopy. Performs various diagnostic imaging examinations of patients as directed for diagnostic and treatment purposes according to established procedures. Performs related duties as required.

Duties & Essential Job Functions

NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  1. Assists Physician in administering opaque media (contrast)
  2. Rotates assignments within the department by assigned shifts as required to meet departmental needs
  3. Processes Images as appropriate for Modality (CR/DR/Film) and is proficient in utilizing the PACS system (Picture Archival Communications)
  4. Maintains adequate records of examinations/dose/contrast as directed, and appropriately utilizing two patient identifier with each patient exam
  5. Assists with movement of patients (rooming/transport)
  6. Assists in the development/optimization of technical factors for radiographic procedures
  7. May assist in equipment or procedures not routinely taught in school
  8. May assist in the training of students
  9. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with designate areas or procedures as required
  10. Performs all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties as determined by employer.
  11. Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination
  12. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of environment and supplies
  13. Ensure utilization of non expired supplies by checking stock regularly and using “first in first out” rule of re stocking
  14. Produces Radiographs, positions and transfers patients, and provides immobilization devices as necessary to obtain images
  15. Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards.
  16. Ensure utilizing techniques that promote ALARA on an individual patient basis (As Low as Reasonably Achieved) for radiation exposure
  17. Selects and operates all imaging equipment as directed and licensed to perform.
Qualifications

Required Education: High school Diploma or equivalent, Graduation from an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology

Preferred Education: Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree

Required Experience: Proficient in a minimum of three Modalities

  • Modalities may include:
  • X-ray and Fluoroscopy
  • All must have this plus one additional modality: NOTE: for CT/MRI/PACS
  • Internal promotion must have required below prior to promotion
  • External hire, must obtain within 6 months for CT/MRI/PACS
  • CT (Computed Tomography) - ARRT (CT) Required
  • Mammography CRT (M) Required
  • MRI - ARRT (MRI) Required
  • Permanent Lead for designated shift
  • Primary responsibility for compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 (MQSA) through record keeping and reporting

Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification, and other ARRT certifications as it relates to each modality where appropriate; valid Fluoroscopy Permit issued by the State of California; BLS - Basic Life Support Certification - issued by AHA-American Heart Association.

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have experience and proficiency in X-ray with Fluoroscopy and CT.

Schedule:

  • This position follows a rotating schedule of seven consecutive 10-hour night shifts, from Wednesday night through Tuesday night (9:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
  • After completing the shift rotation, employees receive seven consecutive days off.

Pay Range: $66.47 - $83.96/ Hour

The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization. Alameda Health System also offers eligible positions a generous comprehensive benefits program.

Additional Information

Note:Per Diem position with 4-7 days per month minimum, including 1 weekend shift required. Ideally: 5 Years X-ray/, 2 years CT. X-ray/CT certified Technologist required. All Diff shifts will receive Diff pay in addition to base rate.
