Job summary

United Trading Group in Utah seeks an AIS Interdiction Specialist to lead the deployment of the invasive mussel action plan in the southeastern region, focusing largely on Lake Powell. The role involves coordinating a team of seasonal technicians, working with law enforcement, and ensuring decontamination of suspect boats and gear.

The specialist will oversee outreach and interdiction efforts, attend meetings with partner agencies, and travel to support AIS containment.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Experience with AIS, specifically quagga mussels.
• Supervisory skills required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and assist a team of wildlife technicians and coordinate with partners to decontaminate watercraft and equipment.
• Conduct interviews for and hire seasonal employees.
• Develop and implement statewide AIS outreach, interdiction, and decontamination strategies with partner agencies.
• Assist with other statewide aquatics projects as assigned by supervisor.
• Attend meetings with management groups regarding AIS interdiction.
• Attend training sessions to improve skills and coordinate work.
• Maintenance of facilities and equipment.
