Summary

The Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (ATSS) at this level is recognized as the subject matter expert in their field. All duties of an ATSS are tied to maintaining the safe and efficient operating capacity of the complex network of electronics systems required for the world's largest air traffic control and navigation system.

Responsibilities

• Install, evaluate, maintain, modify, and certify facilities, services, and equipment supporting the National Airspace System (NAS).
• Perform functions related to the operations of the NAS, focusing on service availability and reliability.
• Provide technical support, analyze, design, develop, install, repair, and evaluate complex systems.
• Serve as a technical expert on legacy and new systems, managing interrelationships and technology updates.
• Lead projects, resolve technical issues, and provide guidance and training to staff.
• Monitor and restore system services, report on critical events, and manage project resources.
• Ensure safety practices and proper PPE usage during maintenance activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• US Citizenship required.
• Selective Service Registration for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Submission of SF50 form.
• Designated or random drug testing required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Position may be extended, terminated, or made permanent without further competition.

Qualifications

Experience demonstrating extensive knowledge of technology systems, interrelationships, and management of aviation electronics systems at the FV-2101 or related occupation level is required. Typically, experience should be at the next lower pay band or equivalent level.
