Job summary

ABM Industries is hiring a Shuttle Driver in Los Angeles to transport passengers to airports, hospitals, arenas, campuses and other facilities. A CDL with Passenger Endorsement and Air Brakes is required.

Training lasts about 4–5 weeks, with starting pay of $27.00 per hour and post-training pay of $29.00 per hour, increasing to $32.06 after six months. Candidates must be at least 21, have 1 year of experience, and possess a high school diploma/GED or higher.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• 1 year minimum experience required and on the job training provided.
• High school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• CDL with Passenger Endorsement and Air Brakes required.

Responsibilities

• Transport, load and unload passengers at designated pick-up and drop-off locations.
• Ensure safe loading/unloading and operation of equipment for passengers with special needs (wheelchair lifts, tie-downs).
• Help passengers load/unload luggage as needed.
• Inspect vehicles for safety and perform routine cleaning/maintenance.
• Meet patrons at airports and lots; provide directions as needed.
• Maintain and enforce bus evacuation plans and respond to incidents.

Overview

The Shuttle Driver drives passengers to and from assigned locations. Depending on the contractual need this could be around or near an airport, commercial building, hospital, sports arena, entertainment venue, educational facility or warehouse. CDL Driver License Required

Pay:

• Starting Pay: $27.00 per hour
• Post-Training Pay: $29.00 per hour (Effective upon successful completion of training and qualification requirements. Training typically lasts 4 to 5 weeks.)
• After 6 Months of Service with ABM Pay: $32.06 per hour

Responsibilities

• Transport, load and unload passengers, providing daily transportation services at designated pick-up and drop-off locations
• Ensure the safe loading and unloading of passengers, including the safe operation and handling of specialized equipment for unloading passengers with special needs (i.e. wheelchair lifts and tie-downs)
• Help passengers to load and unload luggage as needed
• Inspect vehicles on a regular basis to find any unsafe conditions or maintenance issues; perform routine cleaning and bus maintenance activities
• Meet patrons needing assistance to and from various airport locations and lots
• Inspect shuttle for preexisting damage record information using electronic device or manual ticket
• Provide excellent customer service to guests; respond to guest inquiries in a courteous manner, give directions to nearest highway, destination, etc.
• Maintain and enforce bus evacuation plan and coordinates bus evacuation activities as appropriate
• Immediately reports any incidents or claims to Operations Manager or Shift Lead
• Refuel and maintain shuttle equipment and fuel use logs
• Maintain a clean work environment, disinfecting shuttle after each use
• Performs pre-inspection and post-inspection activities to ensure proper operating conditions, adherence to prescribed Department of Transportation standards, and compliance with proper safety standards

• This role requires a CDL with a specific class and endorsement requirement (Passenger Endorsement and Air Brakes Required)

Preferred:

• One (1) year of prior work experience as passenger shuttle driver is preferred
