Job summary

Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) are responsible for providing security and protection of travelers across all transportation sectors in a courteous and professional manner. The role may include securing high-profile events and important figures as needed.

To qualify for the SV-D pay band (GS-5/6), you must meet either experience or education requirements, including a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• At least one year of full-time experience in security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED/HiSET/TASC).
• Credit for experience is based on a 40-hour workweek; travel and residency requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide security and protection of travelers across all transportation sectors in a courteous, professional manner.
• Comply with TSA training, background investigations, and fitness for duty requirements.
• Work schedules may include full-time or part-time shifts, weekends, nights, and overtime as needed.
