Job summary

Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority in Tennessee is seeking an Airport Security Officer for a visible, public-facing security role with outdoor work and weekend availability. The job involves directing traffic, patrolling, inspections, and assisting the public to ensure safe airport operations.

The position offers paid training, opportunities to learn security procedures, and a pathway to become certified in life-saving techniques. Some overtime may occur during peak operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No prior experience required. Customer service and SECURITY is a plus.
• Ability to obtain Basic Life Support, CPR, and AED certification after hire; this training is also provided.

Responsibilities

• Direct traffic and help maintain safe traffic flow.
• Patrol assigned airport areas and monitor activity on airport property and grounds.
• Issue parking citations.
• Provide directions, answer general questions, and respond professionally to concerns.
• Conduct routine security checks, inspections, screenings, escorts, and permit-related duties.
• Staff sensitive areas to monitor and ensure proper entry and exits.
• Support Public Safety Officers during special events, dignitary visits, airshows, or other airport activities.
• Follow and enforce applicable MKAA, TSA, and Department of Homeland Security rules and procedures.
