Job summary

City of Pensacola is seeking an experienced administrator to support the Airport Director in day-to-day property development and operations. You will apply independent judgment to manage leased spaces, contracts, and compliance across terminal facilities and related buildings.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, two years of relevant experience (one in admin), DHS/TSA background checks, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary liaison for airport tenants to resolve operational issues, handle complaints, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures all leased areas, hangars, and commercial buildings are well-maintained and comply with safety and environmental codes.
  • Enforces adherence to lease terms, insurance requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations (such as FAA grant assurances).
  • Manages outsourced service contracts for custodial work, landscaping, and non-major construction or repair projects.
  • Assists with budget estimates, developing and monitoring annual operating budgets for repairs and service contracts related to the property’s activity.
  • Ensures regular inspection of airport facilities, including terminal, terminal grounds, ARRF building, maintenance building, tenant buildings and grounds, and other non-airside areas; documents deficiencies and coordinates corrective actions.
  • Maintains a written log of significant deficiencies in Airport agreements and corrective actions taken; conducts surveys; prepares reports; and performs daily, monthly, and quarterly inspections of all airport facilities, including airport grounds not performed under the operations division.
  • Ensures all Performance Guarantees and Certificates of Insurance are obtained as required under Airport agreements by tracking the expiration dates to prevent a lapse in coverage and coordinating with contractors, tenants, and insurance agents or brokers to obtain updated certificates of insurance and renewal documentation in a timely manner
  • Implement policies and procedures approved by department director and prepare technical and administrative reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Recruitment Range: $56,638.40-$93,433.60 annually, depending on knowledge and experience.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:


  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline.

  • Two (2) years of pertinent experience, one (1) of which must have been in an administrative capacity.

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Licenses or Certifications:


  • Valid driver’s license and any required licenses, training, or certificates required by law.


Special Requirements:


  • Pass and maintain a Department of Homeland Security/TSA background check, as well as a Criminal History Record Check to be eligible to obtain and keep an Airport ID badge.


JOB SUMMARY

This is responsible administrative and professional work assisting the Airport Director in the day-to-day functioning of the department’s properties development. PHYSICAL DEMANDS


  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, smell and hear.

  • Occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch and crawl.

  • Specific vision abilities required include near and far distance, color and peripheral vision, and depth perception.

  • The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 20 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds

  • Subject to recall 24/7 for emergencies and major maintenance concerns after hours.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some jobs may require an employee to be exposed to outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions.
