Job summary

Metropolitan Airports Commission seeks a Director of Airport Planning to lead the strategy, vision, and execution of long-term MSP planning and Reliever Airports. You will drive master plans, ALPs, environmental review, zoning processes, and collaboration with MAC departments, tenants, regional agencies, and FAA/MnDOT stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Planning, Airport, Urban, Environmental, Regional or City Planning, Engineering, Architecture or a related field.
• Ten years of airport planning experience for both large-hub and general aviation airports including comprehensive plans as well as Airport Layout Plans (ALPs).
• In lieu of a degree, fourteen years of airport planning experience for both large-hub and general aviation airports including comprehensive plans as well as Airport Layout Plans (ALPs).
• Experience in project management establishing plans, setting priorities, coordinating activities, delegating tasks, and managing resources.
• Experience managing and directing consultants and/or contractors.

Responsibilities

• Establish MAC vision for all planning efforts and provide direction to planning staff to provide consistent work products and services for all seven MAC airports.
• Oversee long-term plans/master plans and airport layout plans and all other planning documents; ensure staff manage projects according to MAC vision.
• Lead and coordinate airport planning consultant contracts, scopes, and invoices.
• Direct environmental review processes/projects managed by planning staff.
• Collaborate with multiple MAC departments and airport stakeholders to align planning with development priorities.
• Contribute to the annual Planning operational budget and MAC Sustainable Management Plan integration.
