A leading engineering firm is seeking an Airport Planner based in Nashville or Murfreesboro, TN, to lead diverse airport planning projects. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is necessary.
  • Experience in airport design and project justification is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint).
  • Domestic travel may be required, mostly in the South/Southeast US. The frequency of travel is contingent on workload and project demands.

Responsibilities

  • Lead airport planning projects including master plans and layout plans.
  • Coordinate data collection and perform analysis for airport projects.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Present project information for public involvement workshops.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, environmental scientists, and GIS specialists.
  • Assist in coordination of obstruction evaluations and airport airspace analysis with state DOT aeronautics officials and FAA officials.
  • Develop alternatives analysis for airport projects that meet FAA standards.
  • Conduct research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to airport planning.
  • Assist in development of conceptual planning alternatives for airport projects.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders including airport managers, boards/authorities, tenants, state DOT aeronautics officials, FAA officials, and the public.
  • Assist project managers with tasks and deliverables within budget and schedule.

Overview

Neel-Schaffer seeks responses from qualified and highly motivated candidates for the fulltime position of Airport Planner. This person will be based in our Nashville (TN) or Murfreesboro (TN) office, but other locations might be considered for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate for Airport Planner will have a strong interest in aviation with demonstrated experience in airport planning, strong critical thinking skills, and a desire to grow in their career with our growing aviation team.

Responsibilities
  • Lead airport planning projects including airport master plans, layout plans, and Exhibit A property maps.
  • Coordinate data collection and complete analysis related to airport operations, forecasts, and facility needs for both airside and landside capital projects.
  • Prepare technical reports, exhibits, presentations, and planning documents for clients and stakeholders.
  • Present project information for public involvement workshops.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, environmental scientists, and GIS specialists.
  • Assist in the coordination of obstruction evaluations and airport airspace analysis through state DOT aeronautics officials and/or FAA officials.
  • Develop alternatives analysis for airport projects that meet FAA standards.
  • Conduct research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to airport planning.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, urban planning, geography, public administration, engineering, or related field.
  • Relevant experience in the aviation industry including knowledge of airport design, project eligibility and justification, and grant programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint).
  • Domestic travel may be required, mostly in the South/Southeast US. The frequency of travel is contingent on workload and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AICP, CM, AAE or other planning or airport related certifications.
  • Advanced GIS experience (Accessibility Analysis, Network Analyst).
  • Advanced data analysis and visualization experience (Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.).
