Job summary

City of Battle Creek is seeking a skilled airport maintenance technician to perform difficult trades and ensure operational and safety compliance. You will maintain runways, taxiways, lighting, gates, and support facilities, under supervision of the Airport Operations Manager.

Responsibilities include repairs, inspections, scheduling maintenance, and documenting logs such as NOTAMs and FAA records; you will operate heavy equipment, perform engine tune-ups, electrical work, and assist during

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1-3 years experience in equipment and automotive maintenance and repair; airport experience desirable.
• Possess SOS Mechanic Certification in automobile/light truck repair upon hire.
• Possess SOS Mechanic Certification in heavy duty truck repair upon hire.
• Valid Class A Commercial driver’s license within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, routine maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of vehicles, equipment, and facilities.
• Review maintenance records and schedule needed maintenance or repair.
• Assist during safety incidents or emergencies; support snow removal and ice control activities.
• Operate heavy and field equipment and perform engine tune-ups and major/minor repairs.
• Record logs, NOTAMs, FAA records and other required documentation.
