Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of related facilities/grounds maintenance experience.
• Michigan Driver’s License (Vehicle Operator).
• Knowledge of public facility maintenance safety practices.
• Ability to operate lawn tractors, snowplows and other motorized vehicles.
• Read and follow instructions and manuals.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and exercise good judgment.
• Skill in using a variety of power and hand tools.
• Cross-train across Otsego County facilities.

Responsibilities

• Operates snow removal equipment to keep runways, taxiways, ramps, roads and parking lots free of snow and ice.
• Performs maintenance on airfield lighting and county facilities, including changing bulbs and repairing electrical systems.
• Operates and maintains equipment such as tractors, mowing equipment, and fuel trucks.
• Monitors heating and cooling units and related systems.
• Tests electrical circuits and replaces components as needed.
• Performs carpentry tasks including drywall, doors, walls and shelving.
• Maintains county vehicles and equipment with routine tune-ups and fluid changes.
• Performs grounds maintenance such as mowing, trimming, debris removal, and seeding.
