Job summary

Southwest Airlines is seeking an Operations Agent in Charleston, SC to handle essential runway and flight support tasks. You will coordinate with ramp, provisioning, and flight crews to ensure on-time departures and quick turnarounds while delivering Southwest Hospitality.

Responsibilities include boarding coordination, paperwork, weather reports, and safety compliance. Candidates should be 18+, pass DOT tests, and be able to lift 70 pounds. Union schedule and travel benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work under tight turnaround times and pressure.
• Must pass DOT drug and alcohol testing.
• Valid driver’s license may be required for international ops.

Responsibilities

• Maintain excellent customer service and relationships with internal and external clients.
• Coordinate boarding, deplaning, fueling, and weight-and-balance operations to support on-time departures.
• Advise dispatch and gate personnel on boarding start times, flight schedule changes, and operational updates.
• Prepare release paperwork, collect weather reports, and file departure/arrival documentation.
• Operate boarding bridges, jetways, and ramp equipment; manage loading/unloading and luggage handling.
• Oversee special service requests (lavatory service, wheelchairs, emergency cleaning).
• Use radio and phone communications for station operations and passenger information.
• Close out flights by documenting and verifying flight papers and aircraft conditions.
• Maintain clean, uniform appearance and comply with safety standards.
• Assist with freight agent duties as authorized.
