Job summary
County of Sonoma is seeking an Airport Maintenance Worker III to perform skilled maintenance on airport grounds, facilities, and infrastructure at the Sonoma County Airport. You will lead Maintenance Worker I/II and coordinate with the Senior Airport Operations Specialist to plan and execute maintenance tasks.
Strong hands-on skills across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and landscaping are essential. The role requires inspecting runways, taxiways, and equipment, with the ability to work around
Qualifications
- Maintenance experience in airport/public works/facilities
- Broad hands-on experience in carpentry, plumbing, painting, concrete, fencing, landscaping, electrical or mechanical work
- Experience safely operating tractors, mowers, loaders, sweepers, and other maintenance equipment
- Knowledge of safety practices and hazard identification
- Experience preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Ability to lead or train less-experienced staff
- Basic computer skills to enter work orders and communicate via email
Responsibilities
- Inspect and maintain runways, taxiways, ramps, signs, drainage, and other airport property
- Operate and repair maintenance equipment and light/heavy vehicles
- Perform vegetation management and grounds maintenance
- Perform general building and facility maintenance (carpentry, plumbing, painting, concrete, fencing)
- Identify deficiencies, safety hazards, and coordinate corrective actions
- Coordinate with airport operations and respond to urgent maintenance needs
- Complete work orders, inspections, and equipment records
