Job summary

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is seeking an Air Conditioning Mechanic to maintain and repair commercial AC systems at Reagan National (DCA) and Dulles (IAD) airports. The role requires journey-level HVAC expertise, four years of related experience, and EPA 608 certification within 30 days of hire.

The position involves installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems, with rotating shifts and potential overtime for emergencies.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible experience in the installation, test, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning equipment and systems.
• Full performance (journey) level knowledge of and skill in the HVAC trade.
• EPA Universal Certification (Section 608) required within 30 days of hire, promotion, or placement in the job.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of chillers and chilled water systems and boilers is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency calls and performs repairs, adjustments, or corrections.
• Repairs and maintains commercial-grade and industrial HVAC units, refrigeration equipment, and associated systems.
• Installs and aligns motors, belts, shafts, and related components; tests and tunes controls.
• Welds, brazes, and cuts pipe and tubing; performs maintenance on cooling towers and HVAC equipment.
• May guide or train other workers and perform on‑the‑job training as necessary.
• Works rotating shifts and may be required to work after hours or weekends.
