Job summary

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is seeking a Firefighter II – EMT Trainee to protect travelers at Washington Dulles or Reagan National Airports. You will perform fire suppression, EMS, and rescue tasks under supervision, advancing to full firefighter duties upon certification.

The role requires completion of VA OEMS EMT certification within 6 months and passing rigorous exams, with shift work and ongoing training as core components.

Qualifications

• Operational-level knowledge of hazardous materials incident response and basic firefighting skills.
• Ability to pass medical, vision, drug screening, polygraph, and written exams.
• Must be able to meet Virginia EMT certification requirements within 6 months of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency incidents and mitigate them per procedures.
• Drive apparatus and inspect equipment safely.
• Support fire ground operations to ensure safety and property protection.
• Participate in training and community outreach programs.
