Job summary

The Rural/Metro Fire Department seeks an Airport Firefighter/EMT at Pryor Field Regional Airport in Tanner, AL. This 24/7 role provides ARFF, structural firefighting, EMS response, and fire prevention in an active airport environment.

You will maintain equipment readiness, perform inspections, support the Airport Emergency Plan, and participate in training for staff and tenants. Alabama certifications and NIMS are required.

Qualifications

• Certified Alabama Firefighter II (NFPA 1001) or able to obtain reciprocity.
• Certified HazMat Operations per Alabama requirements or ability to obtain reciprocity.
• Certified Airport Firefighter (NFPA 1003) or ability to obtain reciprocity; ARFF live-fire training maintained.
• Certified Alabama EMT-Basic or higher at hire and maintained.
• NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 certifications.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Respond to aircraft emergencies, hazmat, structural fires, EMS calls on airport property.
• Maintain station and ARFF apparatus readiness and inventory.
• Perform inspections of life safety systems and airport facilities.
• Support implementation of Airport Emergency Plan and procedures.
• Participate in emergency standby assignments and training for staff and tenants.
