Job summary

Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport is seeking an Airport Mechanic III to maintain and repair buildings, MEP systems, jet bridges, conveyors, and airfield infrastructure. You will work with multiple maintenance teams, manage work orders, and coordinate with Air Traffic Control during aircraft operations.

The role requires a High School Diploma and extensive experience in building and facilities maintenance, including HVAC.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent; minimum three years of building and facilities maintenance experience, including at least three years on HVAC and mechanical systems and equipment.
• FAA Part 139 KAMA Airfield movement area Certification within 45 days, FEMA N.I.M.S. ICS-100/200/700 Certification within 30 days, SIDA (FAR) part 107.205 clearance, Commercial Class B Driver’s License, preferred.
• Ability to operate hand drill, drill press, table saw, grinder, sander, welding machinery; operate and supervise heavy or complex machinery.

Responsibilities

• Performs carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs to buildings and facilities; paints wood and metal surfaces.
• Instructs and leads lower-level Airport Mechanics and Airport Utility Workers as part of a formal training program.
• Verifies work orders to determine priorities and communicates with Air Traffic Control Tower and pilots when working near aircraft traffic.
• Inspects buildings, boilers/chillers, jet bridges, air handlers, conveyor systems, and terminal/concourse for repairs and maintenance.
• Performs general maintenance on sanitary and mechanical systems; maintains overall building and airfield condition.
• Oversees airfield repairs including lighting, painting, surface repair, and airfield lighting systems.
