Job summary

City of Cleveland seeks an Airport Environmental & Sustainability Coordinator to plan and manage sustainability projects for the Cleveland Airport System. You will supervise staff, monitor budgets, and prepare status reports and grant applications.

You will evaluate program effectiveness, coordinate with city departments and contractors, and communicate progress to officials, tenants, and partners. A relevant degree and experience in sustainability or airport projects are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred.
  • Two years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience in program administration required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds.
  • Valid State Driver's License required.

  • Assist in administration of projects related to environmental impact analysis and sustainability for the Cleveland Airport System.
  • Monitor and evaluate sustainability programs; propose changes to close gaps.
  • Develop short- and long-term sustainability strategies for the Cleveland Airport System.
  • Review project scopes and contracts to align with sustainability goals.
  • Prepare grant applications and manage grant-related work.

Airport Environmental & Sustainability Coordinator

Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and administering a specific project or program for a City department. Serves as the administrative supervisor on projects or programs. Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews activities of subordinate personnel. Monitors the project or program's operating budget and assists in the annual preparation of same. Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation. Develops and secures commitments from other City departments and agencies to provide services to program participants. Provides technical assistance or reviews program policies and procedures. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports. Prepares financial and narrative reports and program applications. Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities. May supervise employees assigned to the respective project. Performs other related duties as required. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. Two (2) years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience in program administration required. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. Valid State of Ohio Driver's License required.

Additional Requirements
  • NIMS and ICs certifications for General Employee tier and any assigned working groups must be completed within six months of employment and complete additional or refresher trainings as required.

  • Must successfully complete all applicable regulatory airfield Ground Vehicle Operator training/assessments, within probationary period, and maintain corresponding airfield driving privileges throughout employment.
  • Successfully complete a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 10-year fingerprint based Criminal History Records Check and employment background check and Security Threat Assessment.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or other closely related field from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • Professional certifications in the field of responsibility.
  • Two to five years of full-time experience working in an airport environment.
  • Experience working with projects that are subject to a governmental public procurement.
Duties & Responsibilities

Under the general supervision, assists in the administration of projects related to environmental impact analysis, environmental planning and sustainability for the Cleveland Airport System.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability programs, and when needed, recommend changes to close strategic gaps.
  • Foster and coordinate new ideas and concepts for sustainability programming; identify materials and resources to supplement or expand existing sustainability programming and initiatives.
  • Research, create and develop short- and long-term sustainability strategies for the Cleveland Airport System.
  • Review and advise on project scopes, plans, specifications, requirements, contracts, etc. to assure they align with the organization’s sustainability strategies and goals.
  • Prepare grant applications and other grant work related to sustainability projects and programs.
  • Provide status and progress reports to project team, and management.
  • Communicates regularly with various sections, tenants, contractors for sustainability management and coordinates activities and inspections.
  • Identify compliance risks and noncompliance incidents and provide regulatory summaries and recommendations to executive staff.
  • Monitors the quality of work performed by consultants and contractors and ensures work is complete according to task orders and within the budgetary and time restrictions of the contract.
  • Track sustainability data and strategize financial efficiency.
  • Assists with the development of the section budget. Assists in the procurement process and verification of contractor invoices and payments.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
